Compiler is closed (for now).
This ambitious effort to launch an independent, nonprofit global tech policy publication has come to an end.
Thanks to everyone who supported Compiler since the idea first took shape in the spring of 2023. Along the way we published exceptional journalism from some of the best tech writers working today and brought together an incredible community of thinkers, reporters, researchers and policy experts.
While this endeavor had many champions, it ultimately proved unsustainable. It was always a long shot — and remains a deeply worthwhile one. I’m still processing everything I learned over the past three years. In the coming weeks I’ll share some reflections from the experience. Hopefully they will be useful to the next group of brave souls trying to build something bigger, better and more sustainable in journalism.
You can still read our featured stories and interviews, sharp analysis and opinion on our website. We will keep an archive of Compiler stories and artwork available as a reference for anyone interested in this project, the future of technology and our approach to tech journalism.
Warmest,
Mike Farrell
